07/16/2010 - San Diego, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The San Diego Padres have placed pitchers Mat Latos and Mike Adams on the 15-day disabled list.
Latos will be out of action due to a strained left oblique muscle suffered when he was trying to hold back a sneeze last Friday in Colorado. The right- handers' stint on the DL will be retroactive to July 9.
He had picked up his 10th victory of the season the night before and is 10-4 with a 2.45 earned run average in 17 starts this season.
The injury actually coincides with San Diego's plan to limit the 22-year-old's innings in his first full big league season. Padres' skipper Bud Black said in spring training that the team would like to keep Latos' workload to between 150-180 innings in 2010.
Adams will be shelved with the same injury that Latos incurred after making an eighth-inning pitch to Ian Stewart in Sunday's game at Colorado. His stay on the disabled list will be retroactive to July 12.
The veteran right-hander is 2-1 with a 2.18 ERA in 42 relief outings this season.
San Diego has recalled pitcher Ernesto Frieri and outfielder Luis Durango from Triple-A Portland to take the vacated roster spots.
Frieri was 3-1 with a 1.43 ERA in 34 appearances for the Beavers and was holding opposing hitters to a .114 batting average.
Durango was batting .292 with 19 runs batted in and 28 stolen bases in 74 minor league games. He had five hits in 13 at-bats earlier this season in a six-game stint with the Padres.

(September 14) – Week one of NFL action saw three teams go scoreless for the first time since 1977. Another four were unable to get a touchdown and almost half of the underdogs covered the spread. Those three teams saved bettors at MySportsbook.com from losing out completely, thanks to the company’s unique NFL Shutout Rule -- which ensures that if the team you backed goes scoreless, your wager is refunded.
Sportsbook refunded tens of thousands of dollars to customers who bet on Oakland, Green Bay and Tampa Bay, the three teams that stunk up the field so badly that their fans and backers never had a chance to get up from their couches and cheer. In the spirit of the low scoring start to the season, odds makers at the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino have set odds on how many total shutouts there will be this season.
MySportsbook.com has posted updated sports betting lines for week two of the season. Ben Roethlisberger’s health status is still questionable, so Willie Parker will try to lead Pittsburgh again as they travel to Jacksonville as a one point favorite. After beating up on his little brother last week, Peyton Manning will look to lead the Colts to victory against Houston. Indianapolis is a whopping 13.5 favorite in the match-up.
Seattle, last year’s highest scoring team, showed the power of their defense with their gritty 9-6 win in Motown over the ravenous Lions. They take their act back home to the comforts of Qwest Field where they will face the resurgent Arizona Cardinals. The Seahawks are favored by a touchdown.
